DANCE EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT

It is our aim to develop strong bodies with an appreciation of dance and music.  The study of dance can help students develop a positive self concept, be motivated to be physically fit, manage stress and increase their strength, flexibility, coordination, endurance, and agility.  Dance provides opportunities for the development of creative capacities, skills of leadership and social interaction, and seeking new friendships.

STUDIO POLICY

No matter what the objective of the students, whether for recreation, education or preparation for a professional career, a foundation of technique is essential for any dance at any level.  Accomplishments can be made only if the student attends class regularly.  If the student must miss a class and wants to make up that time, an alternative class is available.  Please ask Heidi about these times.

In case of bad weather, please call the studio or check the website before coming to class and after 2:00pm if there is any doubt.  It is the student’s responsibility to make up your class. Tuition will not be prorated.

Teachers will advise parents when they are invited to watch their children in class.  Restricting observation time eliminates excess noise and allows the students to focus and learn more quickly, ensuring a high quality class.  Watch week is for the parents to see the child’s progress and for the student to show off their newly acquired talents!

Communication is very important.  Students will get handouts in class, so check with them often or check with the front desk.  For any questions, please call the studio.

Studio Accounts:  Accounts are to be paid in full monthly September through May and due the first lesson of each month.  Statements are not mailed out except for delinquent accounts and then a service charge of $5.00 is added.  There will be a $20.00 charge for a returned check.  There are no deductions or refunds for missed lessons.

When cancelling a class, Fusion Dance Studio needs a written notice two weeks in advance to the day of last class taken. Monthly charges will be billed up until the written notice. Costumes are ordered in December and must be paid for if cancelling after winter break.

Dance School Rules

1.  Please try to be on time for class.  WARM-UP exercises are very important.  The WARM-UPS are done at the beginning of classes and if you are late you will miss them.  The WARM-UPS are for the safety of the students.

2.  Dance Attire:  Every student should be properly dressed at all times.  Any color leotard, tights, black tap shoes and pink ballet shoes.  No t-shirts or sweatshirts in any class.  Shorts may be worn only if wearing tights.

3.  Elastic should be sewn on all ballet shoes.   When wearing ballet shoes, tuck strings inside the shoes.

4.  For Junior taps: No bows in tap shoes.  Elastic buttons may be used.  Senior taps:  please ask instructor.

5.  Hair should be fixed (up, back, etc.) to stay up and out of the way.

6.  Do not wear jewelry (rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc.) to class.  They get in the way and can be dangerous.

7.  Please mark all shoes, cases, etc. with the student's name to prevent losses and mix-ups.  A dance bag is an added plus, students can keep all their shoes in the bag.

8.  Chewing gum, soda and candy are not permitted in class at any time.

9.  Please go to the bathroom before class or after class so as not to interrupt the dance classes and so you don't miss anything.

10.  Please be courteous in the waiting room.  Don't do tumbling in the waiting room and do not bother things that do not belong to you.  Try to be as quiet as possible.  If you make too much noise you will be asked to leave.  Please put all clothing in the dressing room.  (Note:  The school is not responsible for any injury in the waiting room.)

11. Please keep your belongings in the dressing room together.  The school is not responsible for lost items!  Stay out of other people's bags.

12. Teachers will advise parents when they are invited to watch their children in class.  Observation can create confusion and the children have a tendency to watch observers and not the instructor.

13.  Please clean up after yourself - do not leave any rubbish, paper, or anything around.  It only takes a few minutes to clean up after yourself.  If we all work together we can keep the studio as clean as possible.  This is your dance school - take pride.

14. Parents should make sure that any children in the waiting room are quiet, so as not to disturb the classes.  If children eat anything -  parents must clean up after the child.  Do not leave any food sitting around.

15.  Cover Ups:  Since the leotard is for indoor use only, an appropriate garment which covers is to be worn over the leotard to and from the studio - no ballets, tap or jazz shoes are to be worn outdoors.

16.  Regular attendance is a must.  Each student is important to the progress of the whole class.  Interest is kept when there is progress and development.  Irregular attendance slows both progress and development and causes a lack of interest.
